“I am a strong advocate of a collaborative design process. Good design needs to respond to a tremendous variety of program, design and technical criteria while striving to create evocative and inspiring places. The role of the architect is to amalgamate vital input from the entire project team and develop a shared project vision and successfully integrated design solution.”

Why did you become an architect? In recognizing my passion for both creative pursuits and problem solving, environmental design came naturally. Architecture as a functional art challenges both of these endeavors with exciting opportunities to contribute to our built environment.

What excites you about the future of this profession? The trend toward more collaborative design and project delivery models is refreshing and technologies supporting that effort offer exciting opportunities for partnering and teamwork. New building technologies and the emphasis on sustainability present rich criteria for exploring contemporary design and for reinterpreting time tested principals as well.

What do you enjoy most about architecture and design? I enjoy the idea that the creative process can take place in concert with the complex requirements of the site, the end users and the building program requirements.  I strive for an informed collaborative design team to maximize the potential for creative, integrated solutions

One piece of advice to those interested in getting into the profession? Bringing projects from idea to completion is a monumental journey of communication and collaboration.  Teamwork is as important as inspiration.

What is your favorite Place? My favorites change depending on mood or need, but a constant of mine is the top of Mount Tamalpias.
